WOW!

Here is a shocking video outlining the blatant racist agenda of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. It is amazing that so many people will support this organization without clearly undersanding its goals.

A lot of people with brains don't support this organization precisely because of their history in trying to control the populations of non-whites in the country. Also, have you ever noticed where Planned Parenthood buildings are located? They're not sprouting up in Beverly Hills, that's for sure.

But if we are opposing an organization or institution because of its blatantly racist history, what shall we do with most universities, many churches and other places of worship, and the U.S. government?

I hope your holidays were splendid, Dave. I wish you and your family a healthy and happy 2009.

Or, Mr. Cox. :)

Lastly, I've done a lot of reading for my feminist theory classes on eugenics movements in the U.S. I'm happy to send some of those your way. You may be surprised how in sync your thoughts are with leading feminist scholars in the women and gender studies field!

And, by the way, I'm starting my own blog soon. It's about beer, though. If you're interested, I'll send you the link once it's made. Take care.

Judith (gotta get used to that, you're still Judy to me),

Where would those folks with a brain fall when it comes to abortion in general? I'm pretty much opposing Planned Parenthood because they murder helpless babies. The fact that it was founded on racist principles just adds fuel to the fire. It is just ironic to me that someone like President-elect Obama would support such an organization.

It doesn't surprise me at all that some of my views would be similar to feminist scholars. I am curious though, do we agree on the protection of the unborn or only the "non white" unborn? Like I said before, our points of view are not as far off as you may think. Send me the info...I would be glad to look at it.

I would love to see your blog. I am curious as to how someone as intelligent and deep as yourself is planning on pulling off a blog about beer; should be a great read.

Dave is fine, though I prefer David. :) You can drop the Mr. Cox stuff...we are peers now.

I hope you had a great Christmas and have a Great New Year as well. Hopefully you got to spend some time with your family.

Take care of yourself as well.

Hey, where did our conversation on prop 8 go?

Obama is playing the politics game, just like any other candidate would. Why is it ironic? In our two party system, it should be neither surprising nor ironic that a Democratic president-elect supports a woman's right to have an abortion. Similarly, it shouldn't be surprising that Republican candidates oppose both abortions and the organizations that perform them.

The scholars I've encountered are less concerned about opposing or supporting abortions than they are about discussing the race and class issues that are so deeply embedded in arguments surrounding population control. I'm sure they have their opinions, as do I, but they give us another lens through which to look at the matter in question. From there, we can probably guess where they stand (anti-Planned Parenthood, for instance). You're right about us being on similar ground, especially when it comes to this issue. I do have some concerns about the Earth running out of resources because too many people are sucking them up so quickly, but I think that's largely an environmental problem. I also worry about instances of rape and incest, but other than that there's nothing to argue about. I'll send you those readings as soon as I can get my hands on them.

Beer. Ahhh. Beer is so much more complex than I think a lot of people give it credit for. It has such an intriguing history. If I were to write a dissertation, it would probably be about beer's cultural influences. I'm really interested right now in Trappist ales, which are made by monks in Belgium and Holland. Monasteries producing a global product such as beer. Imagine that. :) I have yet to design the blog, but as soon as I do I'll send you the link.

I did have a great Christmas, and especially a wonderful Chanukkah. There was a lot to reflect upon this time around, especially considering the fact that the Holy Land itself was quite literally "on fire". What a conundrum over there.

Our Prop 8 discussion died down because I am just not interested in arguing marriage, regardless of the context. I respect that some people do find something special in that kind of spiritual and stately coupling, but I would like to keep my right to have a civil union and that's that.

I hope you've enjoyed your break. And you can always call me Judy.

I don't find it ironic that a Democrat supports abortion. I find it ironic that folks like Pres. elect Obama fail to see abortion as the largest civil rights issue of our generation. Roe v. Wade is the Dread Scott of our time. We can talk all we want about people having equal rights whether it be based on color, creed, sexual orientation, etc. but, unless we protect the most helpless amongst us (the unborn) we will always be dealing with these secondary issues. We must protect the dignity of the human person, period.

I am sick of the two party system and all the garbage that goes along with it. On the left you have soft headed, soft hearted people...but on the right you have hard hearted, hard hearted people. God calls us to be hard headed, but soft hearted. This doesn't fly in the system we have today.

Be careful studying up on the Monks, you may find that you have more in common with the Catholics than you think.;) Can't wait to read your stuff...

As for the prop 8 discussion, I agree with you. No sense beating a dead horse. I was more curious about your comments regarding the "two spirited" people.
